John, son of Moses and Ann was born c1719 in Hemyock. He was a Cordwainer. He married Hannah Catherine BARNES in October 1739 in Hemyock.

"Married by special licence. Paid tithe 1748 for wheat, cyder, 3 cows and a heifer and sheep at lease 15s0d. 1749 Skadding at Venn (with Robt. Barnes jr.) paid nothing (or in with RB) 1750 Skadding John had 2 acres and 3 yrd wheat, 2.5 acres hay and other indecipherables total 18s10d 1751 Skadding John 5s0d.
William Sandford, for part of Skaddings, 7s6d 1752 Sandford for part of Skaddings 1 2s0d Skadding John, nothing. In 1759 Robert Barnes paid tithe for 'Skaddings'".

Hannah died on 23 November 1765 and John married Catherine WAY on 26 December 1776 in Symondsbury.
"February 15th 1784 Overseer of the Poor paid Catherine Scadding 4s0d relief. July 4th 1784 paid John Scadding, wife and daughter 13s0d relief. Then John Scadding was paid 2s0d to 6s0d relief each month until 24th July 1791 paid 4s0d for John Scadding in sickness".
On 12 August 1791 John died in Symondsbury, Dorset.
"August 21st 1791 Overseer of the poor paid for John Scadding:- coffin, shroud etc 13s3d Catherine Scadding 3s0d".
Catherine died on 17 April 1796 in Symondsbury.
