John1 was born c.1544 in Hemyock, Devonshire. He died c.1594. At the year of his birth Henry V111 had been King for 35 years. John was a Yeoman Farmer and had 2 sons; Mark & John.
Mark, the eldest son was born c.1580 in the reign of Elizabeth the 1st. Like his father he was a Yeoman Farmer & owned Shuttleton. He married Mary (Maiden Name unknown) and they had 9 Children; the first when Mark was just 17 years old & the last child was born when he was 60. Their date of births are listed below.
